A testimony of surrender, cleansing, and carrying the cross

Trusting God Harder Than I Ever Knew I Had To

I was motivated to trust the Lord harder than I ever knew I had to. Not casually. Not comfortably. But completely.

I had to trust Him to bring me into His marvelous light.

โ€œBut ye are a chosen generationโ€ฆ that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.โ€
โ€” 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

Light exposes. Light heals. Light changes you.

Trusting God to Cleanse What No One Else Could See

I had to trust Him to cleanse me from secret faults. The hidden sins. The quiet compromises. The things I justified but God would not ignore.

โ€œWho can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.โ€
โ€” Psalm 19:12 (KJV)

Healing doesnโ€™t flatter pride. Healing confronts it.

Trusting God in Confusion and the Death of Pride

There were moments when my pride screamed, โ€œThis is foolish.โ€

But it wasnโ€™t foolishness it was healing.

โ€œTrust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.โ€
โ€” Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)

The biggest misconception my spirit, thoughts, and soul believed was that once I truly followed God, life would be easy.

It wasnโ€™t. But it was holy.

Picking Up the Cross and Losing the Old Life

โ€œAnd he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.โ€
โ€” Matthew 10:38 (KJV)

I had to hold my cross through thick and thin. I had to fight battles my sin tried to keep me trapped in.

Everything I gained in sin, I began to lose when I picked up that cross.

But what I lost was killing me.

When Giving Up Felt Easier Than Obedience

There were times I wanted to give up.

My pride cried louder than I did.

I felt embarrassed. Ashamed. Lonely. Forsaken. Unloved by God. Confused.

โ€œMy God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?โ€
โ€” Psalm 22:1 (KJV)

Even Jesus knew what abandonment felt like.

Strength Came Every Time I Wanted to Quit

There were moments when everything felt too heavy for me.

But every time I wanted to give up, God gave me more strength.

โ€œMy grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.โ€
โ€” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

The more He cleansed me, the more I realized:

Only God can save you from the life of sin.

The Cost of Following Christ and the Reward

Everything you gained in sin, you will lose when you follow Christ.

But everything you gain in Christ will save your soul.

โ€œFor what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?โ€
โ€” Matthew 16:26 (KJV)

Are You Ready?

Ready to be cleansed? Ready to be humbled? Ready to be healed? Ready to lose whatโ€™s killing you?

Ready to carry your cross?

โ€œIf any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.โ€
โ€” Luke 9:23 (KJV)
